DentaChat FREE Webinar: Introduction to the Small Diameter implants
Small Diameter Implants (SDI) have been in clinical practice in NZ since 2004 and have revolutionised long term denture stabilisation. “Mini,” or small-diameter implants, are traditionally indicated for patients who are unable to have conventional-diameter implants due to medical, anatomical or financial reasons. Small diameter implants have a number of benefits over traditional implants, including:
- Minimally invasive: SDI are less invasive than traditional implants
- Reduced healing time: Due to their smaller size, SDI require less time to heal than traditional implants, allowing patients to resume their normal activities sooner
- Cost-effective: SDI are generally less expensive than traditional implants, making them a more affordable option for patients.
- Versatile: These implants can be used in a variety of situations, such as stabilising dentures or supporting crowns and bridges.
- Less bone loss: The smaller size of small diameter implants means that less bone is required for placement, which can help preserve bone density.
